Hanwha Aerospace, Hanwha Ocean and Hanwha Engine are partnering with three national universities in southeastern South Korea to develop AI and aerospace talent. Hanwha AI aerospace talent development is becoming a central part of the South Korean industrial group’s long-term plan to build an artificial intelligence and aerospace ecosystem in the country’s southeastern region.

Hanwha Aerospace, Hanwha Ocean and Hanwha Engine signed an agreement with three major national universities — Gyeongsang National University, Pusan National University and Changwon National University — to establish education programs designed to develop specialists for AI, aerospace, defense and advanced manufacturing.

The agreement was signed on August 12 at Hanwha Aerospace’s R&D center in Changwon, South Korea. It connects university education more directly with employment opportunities at Hanwha’s major industrial companies and forms part of the group’s much larger investment strategy for the Yeongnam region.

Hanwha said selected students will receive financial support and internship opportunities while studying. After graduation, they may join Hanwha Aerospace, Hanwha Ocean or Hanwha Engine through a separate employment process.

The initiative follows Hanwha’s announcement in July that it plans to invest KRW 55 trillion in aerospace and AI-related industries through 2040. The broader strategy includes launch vehicles, satellite infrastructure, defense AI and data centers while positioning southeastern Korea as a major aerospace industrial hub.

Hanwha AI Aerospace Talent Strategy Begins at Universities
